i was at my grandparents' for the weekend, and my dad had the
audacity to mention that it's christmas in five weeks' time. how very dare he.
thankfully, i'm at least most of the way through my christmas shopping. it's a book heavy christmas this year -- dad, stepmum, brother-in-law
and stepdad all have books for christmas, and my dad (who has the gall to have a birthday relatively soon) is also getting a book for his birthday. gotta use those waterstone's points somehow, i guess.
my mum eventually took a stand and told me i had to stop knitting scarves for my gran because she doesn't really go anywhere, so this year she's getting socks --
Cosy Autumn Socks, to be precise. i just finished the second sock in the pair yesterday evening, although i was too lazy to take pictures this time! i still don't have anything for my
other gran, though, so i thought i might see how quickly i can do some socks for her, too. a different pattern, probably -- my default seem to be
Hermione's Everyday Socks, which is an unfortunate name given jkr's . . . everything, but the pattern was free and it's literally just a 4-stitch knit and purl pattern.
meanwhile in crochet land, i continue to plod along at the
Sunny Log Cabin pattern, the yarn for which was very generously given to me as a combination birthday/thanks-for-helping-with-our-wedding from my uncle and his wife. i'm on square 14 of 16, so soon all i'll need to do is . . .
all of the joining up. hurrah . . . on the bright side, i can at least then use the leftovers from that project to spruce up my
Seaglass Sweater, which i haven't touched since february. most of the dk wool from that is leftover from the
2022 temperature blanket i did last year, so it'll be nice to add in some more colour.
listen, are you even into fibre crafts if you don't have seventeen different projects on the go? i haven't even mentioned the two different sock patterns i'm knitting for myself...
